Expath is a personalized relocation consultancy that helps international individuals and families confidently relocate and settle into life in Taichung.We provide personal guidance, local insight, and one-on-one support to simplify every stage of your relocation—from planning before you arrive to feeling at home in your new community.

Who is Expath for?

Our services are designed for professionals, students, digital nomads, couples, families, and anyone planning to move to—or already living in—Taichung.

Do I need to have my visa or job arranged before contacting you?

No. Whether you're just starting to explore a move to Taiwan or already have your visa and job arranged, Expath can support you at every stage of your relocation journey. We'll recommend the services that best fit where you are in the process.

Why should I choose Expath?

Unlike larger relocation agencies, Expath offers a more personal experience. You'll work directly with the founder who takes the time to understand your needs and provide tailored guidance throughout your relocation journey.

How much does Expath services cost ?

Our pricing is clearly listed on our Services page. Each service includes a detailed description of what's included, so you can choose the level of support that best fits your relocation needs. If you're unsure which service is right for you, we're happy to help you decide.

Who will I be working with?

You'll work directly with Jacob, founder of Expath.
As a Taichung native who spent over 10 years living abroad, Jacob combines local knowledge with firsthand international experience to provide personalized support throughout your relocation journey.

Is Home Search really free?

Yes. Home Search Assistance is provided at no cost to you.If you successfully lease a property through Expath, a standard brokerage fee may apply in accordance with Taiwan's rental practices. This fee is typically paid by both the landlord and the tenant and will always be explained before you proceed.

Are you a licensed real estate agent ?

Yes. Jacob is a licensed real estate agent in Taiwan. You'll receive professional support throughout your home search, with any standard brokerage fees explained upfront in accordance with Taiwan's rental practices.

What if I decide to rent a different property?

If you rent a property that was not introduced by Expath, no brokerage commission is owed to Expath. Our commission only applies to properties that we personally introduced during your home search.
If Expath introduces you to a property and you choose to rent that property within 3–6 months of the introduction, the standard brokerage commission remains payable—even if the lease is ultimately completed directly with the landlord or through another real estate agency. This reflects standard real estate practice and ensures fair compensation for the professional services provided during your home search.

What languages do you speak?

Expath provides services in English and Mandarin Chinese. Whether you're more comfortable communicating in English or Mandarin, we'll ensure clear, personalized guidance throughout your relocation journey.

What areas do you serve?

We proudly serve all districts of Taichung City.

Does Ongoing Support include accompanied visits?

No. Ongoing Support is designed for remote guidance, everyday questions, recommendations, and general relocation advice. If you require in-person assistance, accompanied appointments, or on-site support, these can be arranged through our Settlement Services or Relocation Consultation services.

Can you help with visa or ARC applications?

Yes—but within our scope. We can help you understand your visa and ARC options, explain/accompany you through the application process, and answer general questions based on your situation. However, we do not prepare, complete, or submit visa or ARC applications on your behalf.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation policies vary depending on the service booked. Please refer to the individual service page for specific cancellation terms. If you need to reschedule or cancel, we appreciate as much notice as possible and will do our best to accommodate your request
